The Screaming Staircase Spoiler-Free (for the most part) Review

Hello, Internet! I'm going to be honest, The Screaming Staircase was a hard book to get into for me. When it would usually take me a week, maybe a week and a half to read a book this size, it took me almost a whole four weeks, because it was hard to get interested. That might be due to the fact that this series seems like middle grade, and I'm not usually into those types of books. But I kept reading, mostly because I was recommended it and that person really wanted me to do a review (hey what's up) but it also has gotten so many good reviews and I wanted to see what it was like. And man, did it end good!
Up until the part where Lockwood, Lucy, and George get to Combe Carey Hall, the book is pretty uneventful. Sure, they go on a hunt at the beginning and set a house on fire, blah blah blah, but the real action gets there when Fairfax comes into the picture. As they go through the Red Room and the Screaming Staircase, the mystery of Annabel Ward's murder unfolds.
Middle grade novels aren't my thing. I'm a hardcore fantasy, high fantasy, fiction, teen fiction, YA fiction, YA fantasy, dystopian, etc reader. Middle grade just isn't what I'm interested in. But Lockwood & Co. is one of the few exceptions.
The ending was just so captivating and amazing that it made the wait worthwhile. That being said, if you are an impatient reader, this might not be the book for you. If you're willing to wait, then definitely read this book. It was chilling, fun and interesting, even if you're not a big MG reader like me. It also gave me insight on this type of genre. I've never been much of a paranormal/ghost-y book reader, mostly because I get scared of my own shadow. This book isn't too intense, yet has a big paranormal thrill that I absolutely loved.
So go forth and read this book! All in all, it was great and I had a fun time reading it.

Hello, internet! If you are involved in the community of BookTube, then you have probably heard of Sasha Alsberg a.k.a abookutopia. If you have no idea what the heck BookTube is, much less who Sasha Alsberg is, then I'll explain. BookTube is basically a community of YouTubers who's main category of video topics is books and literature. Now that you know, go browse BookTube! August Wrap Up

Hello, Internet! Ring the shame bell, go ahead, because I only finished three books this month. Shame. Now, you may be thinking, “Ariana, three books in a month is normal!” Not for me, it’s not. Le sigh, for I have been hit with a reading slump. Duh duh duuuuuuuuun! That is right, chicken pies, I have been in a reading slump for most of the month of August. I only finished two books, and I started three, but didn’t finish them. I’ll mention them in the wrap up anyway. Do you know what I’ve learned in the past three weeks? School is time consuming!
