July Wrap Up & August TBR!

Hello, internet! Honestly, I don't even think that I need to explain what I'm doing. If you read my first wrap up and TBR, you probably understand the gist of it. So without further ado, let's get started.

The first book I read in July was The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone. When Maddie O'Neill's grandmother comes down with a terminal illness, Maddie has to navigate love and loss while on a 'death with dignity' cruise. I gave this book five stars. It's just the kind that sticks to you, and you can check out my review here.

The next book I read was Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins. Well, I actually read the whole series. The sons and daughters of fallen angels lives depend on being bad influences, but when Anna Whitt discovers the life she was supposed to have, things get a little tricky. Born of an angel and a demon, she has a choice: halo or horns. I gave this book four stars. It was pretty good.

The next book I read was The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith. Somewhere between the tenth and eleventh floor of their apartment building, Lucy and Owen meet due to a city wide blackout that rendered the elevator useless. Once rescued, the pair spends the night together wandering around New York. But once the power kick back in, so does reality. Lucy has to move to Edinburgh with her parents and Owen moves out west with his father. They keep in tough with post cards, emails, and eventually, a meeting where they first met.
I gave this book two stars. I had such high hopes for this book, but they just weren't met. If you want to read my review on Goodreads, you can check it out here.

I also read Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian, which is the last book in the Burn for Burn trilogy. I'm not going to give the synopsis because of spoilers, but I will say go read this series! It's good!

Annnnnnnnnnd because I'm me and books are my life, I read a few more books this month.

I read Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins, and it was amazing. I read the rest of the trilogy as well. The second book was a let down, and the third was OK. If you want to read it, go ahead. The first book was really good, and though the last two weren't all that, it's a good series overall.

The last book I read this month (that I can remember) is The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. Kate's mom is dying, and her last wish is to be taken back to her home down to die where she was born. When Henry shows up claiming to be the god Hades, Kate is a little more than skeptical. But when he brings a girl back from the dead, she partakes in seven tests - the Goddess tests - to see if she's worthy of the throne of the Underworld and being Henry's wife. I gave this book four stars. It was good, so you should go read it.

And now for my August TBR!

Once again, I'll probably read more books than are on my TBR list, but school starts this month for me, so I might be too busy, but a girl can hope.

The first book on my TBR is The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. This story/script follows Harry Potter's son in his time at Hogwarts. I'm so freaking excited to read this! I wasn't able to go to a midnight release, but I still got it the day it came out!

The next book on my TBR is Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter. It's the sequel to The Goddess Test, so I'm not going to give a synopsis because spoilers.

The next book on my TBR is Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. The synopsis is too long, so I'm going to link the Goodreads synopsis here if you want to read it. Sorry guys, I'm just too lazy.

And the last book on my TBR is The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Shroud. For more than fifty years, the country has been affected by a horrifying epidemic of ghosts. A number of Psychic Investigation Agencies have sprung up to to destroy the dangerous apparitions. Lucy Carlyle, a talented young agent arrives in London hoping for a notable career. Instead, she finds herself joining the smallest most ramshackle agency in the city, run by the charismatic Anthony Lockwood. When one of their cases goes horribly wrong, Lockwood & Co. have one last chance at redemption. Unfortunately, this means spending the night in one of England's most haunted houses and trying to escape alive.
This does seem like a middle grade series, but I'm still going to read it. I found this book via a suggestion on QuizUp, so thank you to Beth!

That's all for this wrap up and TBR! I'll link all of these book's Goodreads page below the sign off. Let me know in the comments what a good book you read in July was! Thanks for reading,
-Ari
