August Book Haul!

Hello, Internet! My birthday was earlier this month, and that means one thing: Barnes & Noble gift cards! And pineapple pizza from Imos, but that's another story.

So I went to the mall last week and today so OF COURSE I had to go to B&N. I mean, it's me. The grand total of books I got was five, and I'm really happy with myself. Let's get to the haul!

The first book I picked up was An Author's Odyssey by Chris Colfer. It is (sadly) the last installment of The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. Now, I don't know if it's my reading slump talking, but when I picked up the first TLOS book a few years back, I really liked it. As I'm reading the sixth book now, it seems more like it's for ten year olds. Which it is. The Land of Stories is somewhere in between middle-grade novel and children's books. I don't dislike it anymore, I still love it, it's (for lack of better words) less mature than I remember it. Nevertheless, I'm still going to finish it.

The second book I picked up was A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I've heard so many wonderful things about this book. When I saw it on the shelf, I immediately went 'mine' I'm soooooooooooo excited to read it! When nineteen year old huntress, Ferye, kills a wolf in the woods, she is taken to a magical land that she only knows of from fairy tales as punishment. When a dangerous evil threatens the world of the Fae, she has to find a way to stop it or doom the world forever.

The next book I bought was The Program by Suzanne Young. In Sloane's world, suicide is an international epidemic. One outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane's parents will do anything to keep her alive, she knows that. She also knows that everyone who returns from The Program returns a blank slate. Their depression is gone, but so are their memories. The only person Sloane can be herself with is James. He's promised to keep them both safe from the treatment, and Sloane knows that their love is strong enough to withstand anything. As the depression sets in and as they grow weaker and weaker, it get's harder to hide the truth. I cannot wait to read this book! I say it in B&N a couple of months ago and loved the cover. Okay, be quiet, everyone judges books (not metaphorical) by their cover. Chances are, if a book cover is pretty, it's a good book.

The next book I got is Never Ever by Sara Saedi. I love fairy tales, and this book is a retelling of Peter Pan with a dark twist. The cover to this one is beautiful, too, so I had to get it.

And the last book I got is (drum roll please).....................

Summer Days and Summer Nights. This book has various authors, because it is a collection of twelve love stories. I loved the idea of a book filled with short stories from different authors, and it has a pretty cover. The authors that wrote this book together are: Leigh Bardugo, Francesca Lia Block, Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare (yesss) Brandy Colbert, Tim Federle, Lev Grossman, Nina Lacour, Stephanie Perkins, Veronica Roth, Jon Skovron, and Jennifer E. Smith.

You have no idea how many 'misspelled words' are in that list of authors. Gosh.

Well, that's all for now! Let me know in the comments what books you've picked up this month! I will leave the Goodread page of all the book s mentioned below the sign off! Thanks for reading,
-Ari
