The King of Books Tag!
Hello, internet! Doing book tags is a thing in the BookTube community, but I don't have a YouTube channel dedicated to talking about bookish things. Good thing I have a blog, though! Tags are a pretty simple thing: you get asked questions and you answer them. No one tagged me because I'm awkward and no one knows me and no one really reads this blog, but if you do I thank you! You could be doing important things right now, like going outside or reading a book. Literally anything else. But you're here, so thanks! Alright I've been talking too long let's get started!
TINY UPDATE: I went online to get the questions, but it turns out that the name of the tag is actually 'The Ruler of Books' but I already made the thumbnail and I'm too lazy to make another one, so for us it's going to be The King of Books. I mean, what did you expect, it's me. And anyone can be a King if they want, so yeah.
The rules: You're the King of books (or Ruler whatever you get the idea)! Answer these questions and rule the bookstore/library!
Question # 1: What book would you make everyone read?
My oh so interesting answer: Without a doubt, I would pick the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. This is one of my favorite book series of all time, and Cassandra Clare is pretty much my favorite author ever. I just feel like even if you were forced to read it, you would enjoy it a lot because there's so much drama and action! So if you haven't read it yet, you should!
Question # 2: What would you abolish in book construction?
My lovely answer: Okay, just imagine me fuming and trying to keep calm for a second. Did you do it? Okay, because that's how I feel when the jacket of a hardback book crumples. If you don't know what I'm talking about (which you probably don't because that was worded horribly) sometimes a book jacket is just a little bit bigger thank the book itself, so the jacket will kind of just crumple and wrinkle at the edges, and I hate that so freaking much. That and when a paperback rips or frays. I know these things aren't exactly 'fixable' but if there was a magic spell that could somehow poof these problems away, you can bet that I'd learn it and get all Harry Potter up in that bookshelf.
Question # 3: Which author would you commission to write every book ever?
My very obvious answer: I'm going to give you a second to guess. If you're stuck, direct yourself to the answer of the first question. Did you get it? Because if you said Cassandra Clare, you would be correct! Were you surprised? I cannot begin to tell you how amazing her writing is! She constantly keeps me on my toes, and knows how to hit me in the feels. I could read her books all day. I could survive off of her writing.
Question # 4: Which book would you demote to the library basement to make room for new books?
My way too long and you're-probably-gonna-hate-me-answers: Yeah, that's right, I said answers. Please don't hate me, but it's between The Maze Runner by James Dashner and the Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Both had kind of the same situation: I stopped after the first book. Well, kind of. I read the first Maze Runner book because of the hype, and I just didn't like it. It was fine, I didn't hate it, but it wasn't interesting enough for me to finish reading the series. And I read the first Caster Chronicles book as stopped reading a fourth of the way into the second one. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the first book. When I got to the middle, I started to loose interest, but it was redeemed at the end. I started reading the next book, and I lost interest completely. The plot was getting kind of weird, and it was developing too slowly. Maybe one day I'll try reading both of these books again, but that day is not coming anytime soon.
Question # 5: What cover artist would you commission to make a beautiful mural?
My pretty decent answer: Whoever did the cover for Newt's Emerald by Garth Nix. I haven't read this book yet, but it's pretty dang high up on my TBR list, so I'll definitly read it soon. The cover is just so beautiful, and I have no doubt that the artist would do a spectacular job. I will put a link to it's Goodreads page (as I will with all of them) down below, because for some odd reason if I add more than one picture per post, the thumbnail will just be blank.
Question # 7: Which book would you award the Ruler of Books (King of Books in our case) prize of 2016?
My long and biased answer but honestly all of these questions are biased because this is a book tag: This question was kind of unclear, so I'll do all books and books that were published in 2016. The winner of the 'All-Books' category is...........the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan! This series is the one that really made me a hardcore fangirl and reader, and it's an easy and fun read for people of all ages!
The winner of the 'Published in 2016' category is.........Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare!
Were you surprised?
This book was one of my three most anticipated reads of this year, next to The Crown by Kiera Cass and The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan. It was so good! It's the first book in the third series that takes place in the Shadowhunter world that Cassandra has written. A lot of people say that they wish she would venture out of that world, but I say keep going! I can't get enough of Shadowhunters, and I never will. And she's planning to write yet another series in that world, so I'm excited.
Well, that's all my friends! As promised, I will link all of the books mentioned below my sign off. As for who I'm tagging, I don't know anyone else who has a blog or a BookTube channel, so I tag you! Go do this, it's fun! Thanks for reading,
-Ari
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)
The Maze Runner (Maze Runner #1)
Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles #1)
The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1)
Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1)
UPDATE BECAUSE OF COURSE I FORGOT SOMETHING: There's actually a question that I missed, and that it which character would you put on a coin, and my answer is Percy Jackson! I feel like it would look really cool if he was just standing there holding Riptide and water was swirling around him. That is all.
If you're reading this, comment 'I'm awkward and I'm proud' just because
I love your blog! This tag was very nice :). I don't know if I already asked, but could you do a review for Lockwood & Co. by Jonathon Stroud? I just think it would be nice since the 4th book is scheduled to be released in 47 days. :) Please and thank you! Keep it up with your blog! I really love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm awkward and I'm proud.
