June Wrap Up

Image
Right, so, I realize that I’m quite a few days late to posting, and I’m very sorry. In my defense, I’m feeling under the weather, so I was just barely able to lift my fingers to type this post. My life lately has also been on a recurring cycle of reading books and watching Riverdale, which I’m not complaining about, at all. I’ve also been focusing on my new bookstagram, so that takes up quite a bit of my time. And I finally got out of my reading slump, so that’s great! I read (and listened) to quite a few books this month, so let’s get into this month’s wrap up! The first book I read was A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Ok, look. I loved ACOTAR and ACOMAF, they were great. ACOWAR, however, was not that. I mean, as per usual, the writing is great, but the plot was really lacking, not to mention the diversity problems it has. In fact, most of Sarah J. Maas’ work lacks diversity a lot. She has a lot of talent and is a great writer, she just doesn’t use that talent to it

Summer Reads

Image
Excuse my High School Musical reference, but it is in fact summer, and that means hanging out at the pool, taking nice walks, and reading on the beach! It also means blistering heat and sweating, but that’s not the point! Summer is great. But what’s even greater is the books! So much time to read books! So today I’m going to recommend some books that have a summer vibe/take place in the summer so you can get in the spirit of this wonderful season! Let’s get started! Summer State of Mind, Jen Calonita This book is about Harper McCallister, who plans to spend her summer shopping with her friends and lounging by the pool, but all that is thrown away when her father sends her to summer camp. This is a companion to Jen Calonita’s book Sleepaway Girls, which I haven’t read yet, but I know that it also takes place during the summer. Summer State of Mind is an amazing book that will get you in, well, a summer state of mind (I am so sorry for that I’m just going to leave)

Lord of Shadows Booktalk

Image
Okay, so as I’m writing this, I literally just finished reading Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare. My eyes are still raw from tears, that’s how recent it was. And it. Was. Amazing. Before we go any further, I’m just going to say that this post is going to be full of spoilers. So if you haven’t read The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, and The Dark Artifices all the way through (and that includes Lord of Shadows) then DO NOT READ THIS POST! I’m warning you, I really am. I’m not even going to put a disclaimer before spoilers. It’s just going to be me venting about stuff that happened in this book, so beware. I shall not be held accountable if you get spoiled, because I warned you. Got it? Good. So. This book. What can I really say, except that it was so beautiful that there isn’t a word to describe it. It was so, so good. I think that the plot for the entire TDA series is just a work of art. So far, there are three series’ in the Shadowhunter world. So far, we know

Starting Out in Bullet Journaling

Image
Hello, Internet! I’ve recently started out in bullet journaling, and I’m really enjoying it so far. If you don’t know what bullet journaling is, it’s a journal with an organization system that’s completely customizable to you and your preferences. It’s like a mixture of a planner, diary, and a to-do list, and I think this system is a really fun and cool way to keep track of things. They’re good for people who are organized, are into habit tracking and setting goals, and people who like to keep journals and diaries. Obviously, though, these aren’t requirements. There are multitudes of reasons why someone decided to start a bullet journal. For me personally, it was because I wanted to become better organized (and to improve my handwriting, to be honest) Today, I want to help you dip your toes into bullet journaling and teach you some basics if you’re interested. In the world of bullet journaling, there are a lot of terms and fancy language that can be confusing at times, so I

Five Fan Favorites: May Edition

Image
Hello, Internet! I’m coming at you today with a new edition of Five Fan Favorites! If you didn’t know, this is a segment I do in which I ask myself five questions (favorite book of the month, favorite book quote of the month, favorite book cover of the month, and favorite word of the month) so you guys can kind of know what cycles through my mind. So, let’s get into it! Favorite Book: If you read my May Wrap Up, you’ll know that I only read one book this month. Shameful, I know, but good thing it was a really good book! My favorite book of the month was Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. The genre was something I wasn’t used to, but the plot was interesting, the characters were great, and the overall experience was amazing. I mentioned this in my Wrap Up, but I love how the book was exclusively multimedia and not just traditional writing. I think it really added to the story and gave it more meaning. Favorite Book Quote: “We are all in the gutter, but some of us a
